My favourate song of all time:
Massive Attack - AngelI've firmed on this recently, been building for a few years now. First heard it and loved it in 1999, M6 at wodonga tafe. Then Manton street in Richmond. and traveling. saw them live in London. And a new significance at the start of last year.
And a song that came back:
Surround me. This track off one of the Hotel Costes releases; stands out from everything else on that compilation probbably because it's not wimpy house. I heard it in glasgow in 2004. And i had it for a while, but must have lost it when one of the ipods died in London. Heard it wednesday night at a restaurant, and it's good to have it again. Also hiding away on the compilation,
mr scruff - get a move onI've been listening to a lot of AIR, it's really found it's own space with me again, in this time. And Walkie Talkie is fantastic. I'd always written it off; nothings as good as Moon Safari but not much will ever be- and walkie's a great album in it's own right. just took a little time to realise, especially after the so-so releases inbetween the albums.
M83.
Saturdays = Youth. Impacting from the very first listen. Cold still mornings. Some incredible, crisp, powerful sounds. I'll probably get sick of the 80s synth one day, but it won't be anytime soon. Should definatley be in a lot of top ten lists at the end of year. I'm really glad I ended up seeing these guys live, I don't imagine it will happen again.
